Anonymous asked: What size/kind of sketchbook do you use?
well right as of now it’s 3.5 x 5.5 inch moleskine
onceuponadrawing asked: Valerie! This is for your anon about CalArts :) The school really doesn't care about sports or extra curricular, I mean it doesn't hurt, especially if you're going for any scholarships, any scholarships the school gives you are strictly based on your artistic ability. I've also been told your chances of getting in are higher if you check that you can fully pay for the school and won't rely on their financial aid (because the school loves getting money). Hope it helps?

Anonymous asked: does your markers bleed through your sketchbook? D: i have been using copic markers and idk if i'm just coloring too much or my paper is too thin but yeah :c help ~
yaa. Copics bleed through like hell on sketchbooks.
So what I do is mostly just cover it up with some kind of paper on the other side or use an opaque paint marker to color over it! or just paint over it.
I’ve seen sketchbooks that claim to be “bleed free”~~ but I don’t really know if they actually are, but you should check them out!!
Anonymous asked: hey great art! i was just wondering if you did any activities throughout high school? i'm planning on applying for calarts in a few years and wanted to know if they really look at sports or NHS stuff etc., or if they really just care about your art? i'm definitely working on my art a lot but i have a chance to apply for NHS and i don't know if it'll be worth it or not in the long run. and sorry for bothering you if you have no idea, haha.
thanks!! I don’t really think they do care?? Because I really wasn’t that active during my high school year. All I really did was manage a few clubs. I didn’t do much community service stuff either. And my SAT score was really low, and my gpa was average. And I think CalArts put your art first before all the extra stuff. I mean I think it helps though! when they’re picking between you or the other person, I think they might take that into account. i’m not too sure though!!
Anonymous asked: maybe it's me being weird here, but I feel like everyone you draw has the exact same or very similar faces. Maybe you could practice drawing people from life, or people with different ethnicities! sorry if i offend you in any way. it's just something that i've noticed.... >~<;;
Nope! You’re absolutely right, everyone I draw has the same face and they’re all are asian. But I also kinda mean it to be that way. I draw asian people only because I feel more comfortable drawing them. I see an asian face everyday in the mirror and the environment at home which I’m in most of the time is comprised of lots of my korean family members. And I like drawing people of my ethnicity a lot because growing up in California there are some times where I feel sorta left out because of my ethnicity especially in my elementary days. And even though California is a lot more diverse than other places I can’t help but feel out of place when people start calling you by your ethnicity instead of your actual name. Even when I’m surrounded by many asians I feel too “american” or whatever and I can’t seem to fit in there either. So I wanted to portray how I am through my art. A mix of personal feelings and what I looked like outside (even though the people I draw don’t look a bit like me I still like to stylize my characters a bit). I don’t know if I answered your ask or not but you didn’t offend me at all!! but it’s not that I can’t draw other ethnicities, but I choose to draw asian people. :-)
stay inside tonight, where the world feels alright
Anonymous asked: where do you buy your sharpie paint markers? because I can't seem to find them in stores ; o ;
Um, well I’ve bought them online and I usually buy them at Art Center’s student store, but I’ve stopped going to art center since the saturday high classes are over and I need to buy new ones and I don’t know where they sell them anywhere else, but they probably have them at blicks! and if you’re far away from it (like I am), buying them online is probably your best bet.
